CHILDHOOD HUNGER

Over one-third of the Community Food Bank's emergency food recipients on a weekly basis are children. There is a critical connection between childhood nutrition, cognitive and physical development. Even nutritional deficiencies of a short-term nature negatively impact a child's health, behavior, and the ability to concentrate and perform complex tasks.

Going without food can cause behavioral and psychological effects such as depression, aggression, anxiety, and poor social skills. Food is the most essential school supply.

When Hunger Ends, Learning Begins. Food for Kids currently has four programs to help combat this problem: the Backpack Program, the School Pantry Program, Free Family Farmer’s Markets and Extended Holiday Feeding Programs.

HOW TO HELP

It only costs $120 to feed a child for an entire year.

A $120 donation can provide enough weekend and holiday food for one child for an entire school year.

A gift of $5,000 will provide enough food for 25 hungry children at one school for an entire school year. Please donate now to the Community Food Bank.
