About the Editors

Like the other Nature titles, Nature Geoscience has no external editorial board. Instead, all editorial decisions are made by a dedicated team of professional editors, with relevant research and editorial backgrounds.

Chief Editor: Tamara Goldin, PhD, Springer Nature, UK

A fan of geologic catastrophes on the Earth and beyond, Tamara joined Nature Geoscience in 2012 following postdoctoral research at the University of Vienna and has head the editorial team since 2020. She received her PhD in Geosciences from the University of Arizona, where she studied planetary surface processes at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. Her research focused on large meteorite impacts and their environmental effects. She received her BS in Geology from Tulane University in New Orleans and conducted a year of doctoral research at the Bayerisches Geoinstitut in Germany.

Senior Editor: Xujia Jiang, PhD, Springer Nature, China

Xujia joined Nature Geoscience in 2018, having started her editorial career in 2017 at Nature Sustainability. Prior to joining Nature Research, Xujia worked as a post-doc at Tsinghua University, looking into the relationship among air pollution, human health and socioeconomic development, including a 3-months visit at School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds. Xujia has a degree in Environmental Engineering from Donghua University and a PhD from Peking University where she studied the behaviour of nanoparticles in aquatic systems. She has also worked on climate change at the Development and Reform Commission in China.

Senior Editor: Tom Richardson, PhD, Springer Nature, UK

Tom joined Nature Geoscience in May 2020 following postdoctoral research at the University of Leeds, where he investigated precipitation and temperature responses to anthropogenic climate drivers. His previous research also included analysis of the atmospheric energy budget and carbon sequestration processes. He received an MPhys in Physics and Astrophysics from Lancaster University, before completing a PhD in Climate Physics at the University of Leeds.

Senior Editor: James Super, PhD, Springer Nature, UK

James joined Nature Geoscience in 2019 following a PhD at Yale University focused on the biomarker reconstruction of warm past climate. His research has sought to improve understanding of proxy systems as well as test the mechanisms responsible for Late Cretaceous and Neogene climatic evolution. He received a BS in Geological and Environmental Sciences and an MS in Earth Systems from Stanford University.

Associate Editor: Alison Hunt, PhD, Springer Nature, UK

Alison joined Nature Geoscience in May 2023 following postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich and the Natural History Museum in London examining isotope and trace-element geochemistry of the Earth and meteorites. She received an MSci in Geoscience from the University of Durham and a PhD from The Open University, where her research focused on the link between magmatism and tectonics in central Asia.

Associate Editor: Stefan Lachowycz, DPhil, Springer Nature, UK

Stefan joined Nature Geoscience in August 2018, following postdoctoral research as a Fulbright Scholar at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, DC. He received MEarthSci and DPhil degrees in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford. His research involved using field, laboratory, and statistical techniques to collect and analyse lithological, geochemical, geophysical, and geochronological data, primarily to investigate diverse types of volcanic activity.
