Vancouver Public Library Event

Join author Lawrence Hill on June 20th from 10:15 - 11:15 am PDT hosted by activist, teacher and author Chantal Gibson.  Lawrence will introduce his new novel aimed at young readers and adults, Beatrice and Croc Harry, answer your questions and share his thoughts about identity, writing, and finding the courage to confront injustice. 

School groups welcome, best suited for Grades 4 – 9. Members of the public are also welcome to attend.

The Congress of Black Women, Waterloo Region and Kitchener Public Library are pleased to host Lawrence Hill talking about his debut novel for young readers. Lawrence Hill will be in conversation with Maedith Radlein

Maedith Radlein is a retired elementary school principal known for her equity advocacy and community involvement during her career with the Waterloo Region District School Board. In retirement she continues these two interests sitting on the WRDSB's Equity & Inclusion Advisory Committee as well as being a Co-Convenor for Waterloo Region's Anti-Racist Advisory Working Group.

An Evening with Lawrence Hill by Edmonton Public Library

The Edmonton Public Library and Calgary Public Library are pleased to present An Evening with Lawrence Hill on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

In a talk about his new novel Beatrice and Croc Harry, Lawrence Hill will discuss writing for both children and adults, the formation of racial identity, the artistic challenges he faced in using humour to explore sensitive subjects, and the joys of playing with language and inventing words for readers of all ages. He will draw parallels between Beatrice and Croc Harry and his well - known novel The Book of Negroes, and will mention his own experiences with censorship and with the title change of his earlier novel.
