‘18 of my family are buried’ – thousands told to flee as second deadly Papua New Guinea landslide feared
Thousands have been ordered to flee the area of a major landslide in Papua New Guinea amid fears that a second wave of debris could bring more destruction.
An estimated 2,000 villagers were buried when part of a mountain in the Pacific island’s remote northern province of Enga sheared away on Friday, creating an “exploding bomb” of rocks, debris and mud.
