Walking into the Airmid shop in the newly bohemian town of Ennistymon, Co Clare, is like entering a soothing cocoon of calm. Natural perfumes fill the air and the unassuming packaging that envelopes the basic, unpretentious product range make you want to rub everything on your body.

With 40 products including luxury body oils, perfume oils, lip balms, beeswax lotion bars, shaving and grooming products, the ingredients contain no parabens, fragrances or artificial colours. Try the body butter — the ingredients are so sumptuous, you’ll want to eat it.

With the Burren on its doorstep, Airmid has no shortage of inspiration for its luxury soap and skincare products. The Airmid story began in 2009 as a home-grown enterprise using herbs from its Burren garden. Its core principle is if it doesn’t come from nature then you won’t find it in any of the products. Raw honey and beeswax are sourced from the Burren and all products are handmade in its Kilfenora workshop, using plastic-free and sustainable packaging from Irish suppliers.

Ethical sourcing is also important. Airmid says it uses organic shea butter from Ghana where it is processed by local women who are paid a fair price. Visit Airmid in Main Street, Ennistymon, where you can test the amazing freshly whipped organic body butter, hemp salves and plantain balms. Inhale the amazing blends of essential oil perfumes, sustainable candles and melts. Great gifts too.
