Gráinne Walsh had sunk to her knees before the PA announcer finished delivering the result of bout 522 at last month’s Olympic boxing qualification tournament.

Her guttural-like roar echoed around Bangkok’s Indoor Stadium. Twelve years after she first laced a pair of boxing gloves the 28-year-old welterweight from Tullamore was bound for the Paris Olympics.
