Douglas James-Taylor hits the equaliser for Drogheda against Shelbourne

Shelbourne will go into a one-month break from league action with their lead at the top of the Premier Division intact but with a sour taste in the mouth, having dropped two points and seen two of their men sent off in a tense draw away to Drogheda United.

The comfort for Damien Duff’s side will be that their closest challengers Derry City lost, but this was a bruising night for the league leaders, who seemed to be fully in control after taking the lead in the 21st minute, only to endure a punishing final 10 minutes where defenders Paddy Barrett and Tyreke Wilson were sent off, both for a second bookable offence.
