Daniel Wiffen was in a cubicle preparing to do a doping test on Sunday evening when he got a chance to ring his parents, Rachel and Jonathan, after his 800m world record-breaking gold medal-winning performance in Romania.
Rachel and Jonathan were at the European Short Course Championships to watch their twin sons Daniel and Nathan compete, but they had to leave on Friday to go to a wedding in Leeds. They watched their son make history on their iPad in a hotel room. A few hours later, Daniel called them.
