World champion Luca Brecel crashed out in the first round of the German Masters after a shock 5-2 defeat to India's Ishpreet Singh Chadha.

Chadha, who had beaten Stuart Bingham in qualifying, reeled off four frames in a row to beat the out-of-form Belgian and secure one of the biggest wins of his career.

On a day of surprises in Berlin, Hong Kong veteran Marco Fu rolled back the years as he secured a stunning 5-1 win over Mark Selby, while Shaun Murphy fell 5-3 to China's Xu Si.

Judd Trump avoided a similar fate as he scored two centuries in a 5-0 whitewash of Belgium's Lukas Kleckers, while Neil Robertson also hit two breaks over 100 as he returned to form with a 5-1 win over Sanderson Lam.

Mark Allen held his nerve to summon a break of 100 in the final frame to squeeze past Thailand's Manasawin Phetmalaikul 5-4, while a notable second-round clash saw Elliot Slessor thrash world number 20 Hossein Vafaei 5-0.
