And so, with the final day of Punchestown the 2023/24 National Hunt season comes to a close.
Galopin Des Champs started and ended his campaign with defeat at Punchestown but reached the summit at both Cheltenham and Leopardstown in between. State Man was flawless throughout. I Am Maximus brought home a second Grand National, 19 years after the first with Hedgehunter and his victory proved the launchpad for Closutton to gain revenge for the narrow defeat eight years ago when Paul Nicholls fended us off for the British Trainers’ Championship.
