12 years ago a cyclist in the French Alps made a gruesome discovery on a sunny autumn afternoon. The bodies of 4 adults, each of whom had suffered gunshots to the head. They were later revealed to be a British family, and a French father of three. Miraculously, two children had survived the bloodbath.

Described by a local prosecutor as “an act of gross savagery”, the killings have left investigating detectives baffled and frustrated since 2012. But now, France’s cold case unit has ordered new DNA tests, as they look to finally solve the infamous series of murders known locally as ‘L’Affaire de Chevaline’.
