Pop sensation Justin Timberlake appeared at a Long Island court on Tuesday after being arrested for driving while intoxicated. The former N-Sync, and colossal solo star, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday after failing a sobriety test.

Now he’s bringing scandal back, with police describing him as having "bloodshot and glassy" eyes as well as smelling of alcohol. Timberlake was formally charged with a DWI (driving while intoxicated) misdemeanour and his next court date is scheduled for July 26, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed.

But this is not the first time that controversy and scandal has followed the Cry Me A River and SexyBack singer.

In 2021, Timberlake apologised to former girlfriend Britney Spears and singer Janet Jackson. Timberlake has previously been accused of misogyny by some over the way he treated Spears during their relationship and break-up as well over a performance he did with Jackson at the Super Bowl in 2004.

In a lengthy 2021 social media post, Timberlake said: “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right."

Today on the Indo Daily Fionnán Sheahan is joined by pop culture journalist Louise Bruton to discuss the controversial personal life of the one-time prince of pop, Justin Timberlake.
