Podcast reviews: True-crime series that avoid the pitfall of red-top sensationalism

True crime is a mainstay on podcasts, with some more successful than others. Some are of the bandwagon variety, others have all the subtlety of a red-top headline. No such thing on these three series, which balance light and shade without exploitation.

​Only a few months ago this very column featured Carrie Jade Does Not Exist, a true-crime podcast about a serial fraudster who had extorted money (and sympathy) from vulnerable families in the UK and Ireland.
