The world isn’t half settled, as my dear old dad used to say. It was a sentiment I recalled last week after two encounters with a diverse pair of individuals.

The first was a disenchanted 19-year-old working in my local cafe who’d rather be summer jobbing in the USA, while the other was an energetic 70-something lady checking out Volkswagen camper vans for an adventure to the edge of the world.
