For all their claims to be an unorthodox party, the Greens have had a pretty textbook leadership contest thus far. The similarities to the Fine Gael leadership contests of recent times have been striking though. The sequence of events are certainly similar, albeit the Greens are looking at a contest. Whereas Simon Harris was unopposed, Leo Varadkar had to fend off Simon Coveney.
