Gorgeous Greek whites to channel summer sunshine on those chilly autumn nights

Summery Greek whites will add a little drop of sunshine into your autumn

Aoife Carrigy

This time two years ago, in the middle of on-off lockdowns, I wrote about Greek wines as a sort of love letter to the kind of armchair travel that wine can offer: transporting us to far-flung climes by evoking a distinctive sense of place.

This summer, I got to live out that fantasy of a Greek holiday. Now, as the seasons start to turn, the appeal of Greece’s distinctive white wines is to bring me back to those sun-filled days for even a fleeting visit. The good news is that Greek wines are becoming increasingly accessible in good independent retailers and on well-considered wine lists, and are even turning up in our supermarkets on a more regular basis.
