Two men whose bodies were taken from the Grand Canal in Dublin have been named locally as gardaí investigate whether one of the men got into difficulty in the water and the second one died trying to save him.

The bodies of Donal Scanlon (49) and Alex Warnick (42) were discovered about 8am on Saturday at a section of the canal near Grand Parade and the Charlemont Luas stop.
