SVP calls for €20 weekly increase to social welfare rates as it expects 250,000 calls for help this year

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) has called on the Government to increase weekly social welfare rates by €20 in the next budget as it is expects to receive over 250,000 calls for help this year for the first time.

The charity has set out its recommendations for Budget 2025, which will take place on October 1.
