There was once a time when Botox treatments were favoured by people in their 30s and 40s, as a way to fend off signs of ageing in the skin. But in recent years, the rise of ‘preventative Botox’ has led to people seeking injections at a much younger age. The idea is that if you get ahead of the ageing process, you prevent the formation or progression of wrinkles.

The trend is certainly evident in pop culture. Reality dating show Love Island has become a guessing game in recent seasons, on account of how difficult it is to tell what age some of the female contestants are.
