A Mayo farmer who owed creditors €2.3m has had more than half his debt pile wiped out and has saved his home and farm under a court-approved personal insolvency arrangement (PIA).

The deal, writing off around €1.2m, was secured by John Walsh (59) following an application to Castlebar Circuit Court.
