The Christian Brothers College (CBC) Monkstown in Co Dublin is facing legal claims for compensation over alleged negligence and breach of duty due to its employment of Gerard O’Brien, who is now a convicted sex offender and former judge.

On Friday, O’Brien (59), who is also a former solicitor and ex-Fianna Fáil councillor, was sentenced to four years in jail for sexually assaulting six men in the 1990s when he was a teacher at the school.
