Americans in Ireland on the Fourth of July: ‘The first thing everyone asks about is what I think of Trump’

Dan Sweatland (35) came to Ireland from the US more than 14 years ago to study and is based in Greystones, Co Wicklow. For him, it’s the small things he misses most when his country’s Independence Day rolls around.

“You get kind of a culture shock when you do come over, but you adjust to it. Greystones has a fairly large number of Americans. So it’s been an easy transition,” he said.
