New Zealand farmers say fair methane target will avoid closures

New Zealand farmers are welcoming confirmation the government will independently review methane reduction targets, saying a more realistic approach will help keep many on their land.

The government has appointed an expert panel charged with providing evidence-based advice on what the nation's biogenic methane target should be to ensure no additional warming, Climate Change Minister Simon Watts said Thursday in Wellington.
