Farmers are being advised to get a “second opinion” on their fodder situation, as figures show that 32-42pc of farms need to act to secure additional fodder beyond second-cut silage.

Figures from the National Fodder and Food Security Committee (NFFSC) from over 500 farms were presented at a meeting yesterday, showing that 25-30pc of farms are reporting a fodder deficit of 10pc or more, relative to normal.
