The European Commission has clarified that farmers unable to fulfil their Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) requirements due to extreme weather events like severe floods or droughts can use force majeure and exceptional circumstances.
This, it says, will keep farmers working in areas that are affected by unforeseeable natural disasters or meteorological events outside of their control from losing their CAP support.
