‘We are being walked over’ — tillage farmers angry over dairy expansion

Frustration and anger at the loss of tillage land to the dairy sector was a common theme voiced by many tillage farmers and their representatives at last week’s Teagasc National Tillage Conference in Kilkenny.

Tillage farmer anger was particularly acute regarding the use of fake slurry movements, which was seen as denying valuable nutrients from tillage farms and driving land rental prices to record highs.
