Fears of more dairy job cuts
Rising costs and falling milk production volumes spark concerns over redundancies*
The CSO reported another fall in April milk production this month, down 81m litres (-7.9pc) when compared with April 2023 and down 107.6m litres (-10.2pc) when compared with the same month in 2022
More job cuts in the dairy industry are now feared in the wake of Tirlán’s decision to announce a significant redundancy programme last week.
It’s understood Ireland’s second largest processor Lakeland Dairies, which cut 78 jobs last year when it announced site closures, is also reviewing functions, including finance and agribusiness.
