There is a great sense of relief to finally get most of my costly cereal seed into the ground, after looking at it sitting in the shed for nearly four months.
Tillage is only part of my farming enterprise, but there is a lot of money tied up in establishing crops in the fields. I hate to think how much money the specialist tillage farmers had tied up in seed and fertiliser this spring while they waited for the rain to stop and the ground to dry out.
