Ever since its arrival on our TV screens, House of the ­Dragon has been in a very unique position. Following the ­runaway success of Game of Thrones, the first season came in the wake of GOT’s much-maligned final episodes.

Set 200 years before Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, House of the Dragon had to be both as worthy as what had come before – while also recovering from the previous show’s ending.
