GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes had to leave his Breakfast show mid-way through the broadcast after “feeling a little unwell”.

The Belfast presenter, who co-hosts the show alongside Isabel Webster, had been present at the start of the programme when he announced Labour's plans to build over areas of the green belt to assist with the current housing crisis.

However, viewers noticed the 64-year-old then left the show with Isabel presenting the rest of the show by herself.

A GB News spokesperson confirmed to the Belfast Telegraph Holmes had to leave due to illness.

"Eamonn had to finish earlier today as he was feeling a little unwell. He hopes to be back tomorrow,” they said.

A friend added that the presenter was in “good spirits”.

The Irishman recently admitted at the TRIC Awards that he is “not ok” amid concerns about the presenter’s health battle and his split from Ruth Langsford.

Holmes also said at the event – in which GB News Breakfast won an award: "This is not a good time at all.”

The pair, who used to present ITV’s This Morning together, announced their split last month.

At the weekend it was reported friends are becoming concerned about Eamonn’s “solitary existence” after leaving the comfort of the mansion he shared with his estranged wife.

A source told the Daily Mail that he has moved into a "small flat near a roundabout" from which he is chauffeured to and from the GB News studios in West London due to his ongoing mobility issues.

They said pals are worried about the broadcaster.

"It's all a rather sorry affair,” the source added.

"It was only a few months ago he was living in his lovely family home with Ruth.

"Yes, they were troubled, but she was caring for him and he had some kind of normality.

"Now, he is alone in a flat living a pretty solitary existence. His marriage ending after such a long time has been something he has found difficult to accept."

It comes days after reports that Ruth is grappling with "agonising guilt" over the break-up.

The Loose Women star is said to be concerned about appearing as if she's “abandoned” Eamonn who now relies on a wheelchair and walking frame due to chronic pain.

Sources claimed Ruth is caught between supporting her former partner and moving forward with her own life.

Bella magazine quoted one source as saying she feels "terribly guilty" and that seeing recent photos of her "frail" ex has been very hard for her.

However friends, who describe the ITV star as a "sensitive soul" have encouraged her not to be too hard on herself as she adapts to her "new normal".

“Even though she has every right to live her life and do what is best for her, she’s worried the public will perceive her as abandoning Eamonn in his time of need as he struggles with his health,” the source added.

Ruth has continued wearing her sparkling engagement and wedding rings.

She was pictured last week enjoying an evening out at Giovanni Pernice and Anton du Beke's stage show in London after being invited by her close friend Anton (57).
