RATHDRUM Off-Road Bike Club took top prize at this year’s Rathdrum St Patrick’s Day Parade. The best float winner was the 1900s themed entry, while Rathdrum Off-Road Bike Club finished second and also won the best community float. The best commercial entry was won by Sean Murphy. The best Irish theme was warded to Nolan and Fogarty for their ‘Craic agus Ceoil’ entry. The best club entry went to Parnell Athletic Club. Parnell Pipe Band won best marching group and the 1900s entry also won best vintage entry. The Harley Davidson Bike Club from Dublin won best visiting float. Grand Marshalls Derek McMullen, Tom Nolan and Diarmuid and Gearoid O Briain were part of the Row Hard or Go Home team, who set a new World Record for an Atlantic crossing by rowing boat earlier this year, having shaved a full two days off the previous record for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic by a team of five rowers. Sandra O’Shaughnessy said: “We were delighted with the turnout and the rainy weather failed to dampen any spirits. “We had a good number of floats entered by different sporting clubs, organisations and schools. We had a larger attendance than last year and the whole day was wonderful.”
