Mid- to long-term basic research for national security against infectious diseases

The Korea Virus Research Institute is an institute under IBS that specializes in virus research.
It was established in 2021 July to secure mid to long-term basic research capabilities against the threat of viruses and to contribute to national security against infectious diseases.
In addition to combating infectious diseases, it is exerting efforts to solve various incurable diseases such as atopic dermatitis and cancers. It aims to nurture excellent research groups and network with different universities, companies, and other research institutes for collaborative research.
