Superman star David Corenswet films scene in Cleveland in which authorities detain the Man of Steel ... as production on summer blockbuster continues in Ohio

David Corenswet was pictured filming James Gunn's upcoming Superman film on Wednesday in Cleveland, in a sequence in which the Man of Steel was apprehended by authorities.

The actor, 30, was pictured in his full Superman outfit in a scene in which soldiers and a character in a black bodysuit had Superman on the ground, fitting him with restraints as they took him into custody.

He was pictured alongside actress María Gabriela de Faría, 31, who plays the role of The Engineer in the movie.

The actress, 31, had her hair back in braids and wore a black bodysuit as she stood in front of a handcuffed Superman, flanked by multiple military officials in camouflage attire.

Corenswet, a native of Philadelphia, has been busy with production on the reboot of the famed DC superhero for filmmaker Gunn, replacing actor Henry Cavill in the role.

Corenswet, who has been seen on the Netflix shows Hollywood and The Politician, was pictured filming earlier this week in Ohio opposite Edi Gathegi, 45, who plays the role of Mister Terrific in the movie.

Gunn on May 6 took to social media with a first look for fans featuring Corenswet in the updated Superman costume.

In the image, Corenswet was seen pulling on the character's signature red boots while a colorful explosion could be seen in the background.

Gunn captioned the post, 'Get ready. #Superman,' adding that the movie will arrive in theaters on July 11, 2025.

The motion picture, which is due in theaters next summer, features an ensemble cast consisting of Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

Gunn past said on social media that the motion picture will focus on 'an earlier part of Superman's life.'

Gunn in June of 2023 confirmed on his X/Twitter account that rumors that Corenswet and Brosnahan were playing the respective roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane were 'accurate.'

He added, 'They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people.'

Gunn told Variety in April 2023 that he was aiming for certain unexplored character traits for his incarnation of the famed character.

'The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he's also an alien,' Gunn told the outlet. 'It's gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug.'

Corenswet follows in the footsteps of a number of high-profile names to commandeer the role of the comic book hero, such as the late Kirk Alyn, George Reeves and Christopher Reeve, as well as Brandon Routh and Cavill.
