Manchester United and Tottenham are both eyeing up a move for Lille forward Jonathan David this summer, according to reports.

David, who has just one year left on his contract in Ligue 1, is available for transfer and United and Spurs are among the clubs monitoring his situation.

According to Sky Sports, no formal contact has been made over the in-demand frontman but he is believed to have been shortlisted by a host of sides.

Indeed, several other Premier League outfits are also keen on a swoop.

Determined not to lose the 24-year-old for free next summer, Lille are open to allowing him to leave this month and a number of offers are expected.

United are keen on signing a new striker after deciding to keep Erik ten Hag in charge

Having decided to keep Erik ten Hag in charge after a wide-sweeping end-of-season review, United have now turned their attention to strengthening their squad.

It is understood signing a new striker is a priority for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS ownership - although the Red Devils are working with a restricted transfer kitty.

Mason Greenwood is expected to leave after Lazio opened talks over a potential £30million move while Jadon Sancho could also be offloaded. Anthony Martial has already departed Old Trafford after his contract expired at the end of the campaign.

David scored 26 goals across all competitions last season, including 19 in Ligue 1, and has also cemented his spot as a regular for Canada on the international stage.

Since moving to Lille from Belgian side Gent, David has scored 84 goals in total.

But in a significant boost to both United and Spurs, Lille president Olivier Letang openly admitted that the ace is available for the right price.

'We have two players who have an exit voucher with Leny [Yoro] and Jonathan [David],' Letang said in an interview this week.

Mail Sport reported, meanwhile, that United are continuing talks with Netherlands and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee as they line up a bid in this window.

Zirkzee has a buy-out clause of just £33.7m written into his contract and he has been targeted by AC Milan - who were initially thought to be the front runners in the race.

Arsenal are also understood to have expressed interest but United are now in a strong position, having held positive negotiations ahead of lodging an offer.

Also looking to recruit at least one new defender, United saw a £43m bid for Everton centre back Jarrad Branthwaite rejected. They are also keen on Lille youngster Yoro.
