A Poldark fan painstakingly recreated well-known scenes from the hit BBC show - with tiny Playmobil figures.

Leon Hickmott, a Playmobil collector, spent hours carefully researching and planning each shot before taking his characters on location to take the perfect photo.

Against the stunning backdrop of the Cornish coastline, the 40-year-old was able to capture some of the drama's most distinctive scenes - including Ross Poldark's return to his father's mine and some of his first romantic moments with Demelza.

He even recreated Poldark's steamy skinny-dipping scene - which sent pulses racing when it was aired earlier this year.

Mr Hickmott, 40, who lives in St Columb, Cornwall, said: 'I guess the idea came to me while watching the first episode. As I watched the show I realised I could recreate some of the scenes in the actual locations they were filmed.

'I set about planning the shots, researching the filming locations and buying a few new Playmobil figures to get the correct or closest possible to the period costume. It's a love story at its core and I guess I am a bit of a romantic.'

The scenes took up to four hours to set up, and Leon says he usually spends another few hours painstakingly checking through the photos editing them to make sure they are picture perfect.

He said: 'The first shots of Ross and Demelza went really well. I was stoked with a few of them so from then on I decided to try to hit as many of the locations from the show as possible.

'I am amazed I actually got any shots from Wheal Coates tin mine as it was blowing a hooley and I had trouble standing. But somehow I managed to a couple of shots I was quite happy with.'

Mr Hickmott's scenes have already found some famous fans, with Beatie Edney, who plays kitchen maid Prudie regularly tweeting pictures of his creations.

And he said that he is not done with his creations.

Mr Hickmott added: 'I didn't make it to all of the filming locations while this series was showing due to the weather and fitting it in around my real job, but I plan to do more for next year's Poldark.

'There may well be some scenes of other TV shows coming up; one friend keeps suggesting Downton Abbey - we'll see.'
