Influencer, 33, dies in Brazil after BBL surgery

A Brazilian influencer died on Tuesday due to complications related to a surgery to increase the size of her buttocks.

Aline Ferreira, 33, had polymethyl methacrylate applied to the buttocks during the procedure at the unlicensed Ame-se clinic in the city of Goiânia on June 23.

Correo Brazilenze obtained access to a preliminary report which indicated that Ferreira was in a comma was went into cardiac arrest last Friday and on Sunday.

Her husband told Brazilian news outlet G1 that Ferreira returned to their home in Brasilia the day of the operation and was doing well.

However, her medical condition began to worsen the next day when she had a fever.

Grazielly da Silva, the biomedical scientist who owns the site and who performed the procedure on influencer Aline Ferreira, was arrested Tuesday. She claims she never injected polymethyl methacrylat into the model's buttocks

Ferreira's husband reached out to the clinic of Grazielly da Silva, the biomedical scientist who owns the site and who performed the procedure and was told that “it was normal and that she should take medicine for the fever.” 

Ferreira developed an abdominal pain on June 26 and fainted the following day. 

She was admitted to Asa Norte Regional Hospital and remained there until Saturday, when she was transferred to a private hospital in the town of Asa Sul.

Ferreira’s family said that da Silva injected 30 ml of polymethyl methacrylate to each of her buttocks, according to Metropoles news outlet.

The 33-year-old was feeling well and went home following her butt lift procedure on June 23, but her medical condition worsened in the following days. She reportedly went into cardiac arrest on Friday and Sunday before she passed away Tuesday

However, da Silva countered the family’s claims when she visited Ferreira at the hospital and alleged that she had only applied a biostimulator and suggested that the infection may have been caused by the bedsheets at the influencer’s home. 

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency suggests that polymethyl methacrylate, an injectable gel, should only be used to treat serious diseases, like polio, in the event they provoke the development of body deformities.

Da Silva was arrested Tuesday as part of the investigation into crimes against consumer relations. 

The Goiás Civil Police said it had shut down her clinic because it did not have a health license and was not registered with the Regional Council of Biomedicine of Goiás.

Ferreira, a mother of two, was known for creating content about fashion, travel and day-to-day living on her social media platforms.
