The Masked Singer host, 56, joins Nicky Campbell for the emotional show, hoping to reunite families after spending decades apart.

The new seven-part series returns to ITV tonight at 9pm for a 14th season and is set to feature an episode on the stolen babies scandal in Spain

It also sees a woman who was separated from her brother after their adoptive family sent him back to a children's home reunite with him 60 years later.

Davina told TV Times that the emotional storylines had also impacted her personally, and she had even broken down in tears.

She said: 'This is a brilliant series. It's about the human spirit. People watch the show to feel warmth but you're also crying for every love you've lost yourself, because we can all relate to people's pain.

She added that it was an 'unbelievable privilege that people share this experience with us'.

The series will investigate the stolen babies scandal in Spain, which first came to light in the 2000s.

The horrifying state-sponsored snatching from 1939 to 1975 under General Franco saw hundreds of thousands of babies stolen from their parents, who were then told their children had died.

The children were given to new parents with forged birth certificates, meaning it was difficult to trace them and many families still have no closure to this day.

Davina explained: 'The birth mothers have terrible stories. There's hope that some babies may be found, but we've also got to think about those children who may never have known they were adopted and how damaging that would be.

'It's complicated, but also an amazing story.'

Viewers can also expect to hear about Tegan Cornish, 61, who was separated from her brother after their adoptive family sent him back to a children's home.

At 14 months old, Tegan was adopted by a couple in their fifties, but she never found a sense of belonging at home, with her 'cruel' adoptive mother threatening to 'send her back' to a children's home if she misbehaved.

Tegan discovered that she had a secret blood brother who her adoptive parents had also taken in, only to return him to foster care, but she was a toddler herself at the time and didn't remember him.

She reunites with him six decades on in the show and the siblings were overjoyed during their emotional reunion.

The series also follows the story of 76-year-old Roslynne (Ros) Webb, who lives in Cornwall but grew up in Coventry.

She was 16 years old when she became pregnant and her strict parents were so ashamed that they decided the baby would be given up for adoption.

To hide her pregnancy, teen Ros was sent 100 miles away to London to stay in a Church of England-run Mother and Baby home until her little one was born.

Ros, who later married but was unable to have anymore children, was forced to give up her only child and it's only six decades later that the pair have finally been reunited in an emotional episode airing on Monday.

The new series of Long Lost Family starts on tonight at 9pm on ITV.
