Too often, politicians feel too far away, out of reach and out of touch. They make empty, hollow promises or put personal ambition and extremist agendas before our communities and country. That’s not what I learned growing up here or at West Point, that’s not how I guided my troops in Iraq, that isn’t how I served as Ulster County Executive, and that’s not what I’m bringing to Washington now. I serve you and I’m committed to bringing government assistance directly to you.
That’s why I rolled out my Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (CARES) Van, to bring help with federal agencies directly to you in your neighborhood. The Van is staffed by my team of skilled caseworkers and will be at every one of NY-18’s 82 municipalities. We’ve delivered flood recovery resources directly to damaged communities, brought Social Security assistance to seniors in Ulster County, helped veterans access PACT Act benefits, and much more. Whether you need assistance with a federal agency like the IRS or Department of Education for federal student loans, or just want to meet my team - we’d love to see you out at one of our events.
I’m also proud to have opened three offices throughout the 18th District - one in each county, to ensure that you have reliable access to my office and assistance that you can count on. That’s how my team helped secure $22,454,426.75 million in casework wins in 2023 and helped save the day for many New Yorkers with emergency passports. I’m committed to delivering the federal funds for projects that revitalize and empower our communities. I was proud to deliver $21.7 million in federal funds to transform the Kingston waterfront, $2.5 million to fund early education programs in Poughkeepsie schools, and $2 million in grants for Sun River Health in Beacon.
I’ve fought for the return of a permanent Social Security office in Ulster County and to prevent the closures of post offices across the Hudson Valley. While other politicians look to cut the services that government provides to the American people, I’m dedicated to protecting them.
