A Newark man is facing charges for allegedly attacking a woman and two children in East Orange on July 4.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says that Jihad Hagler, 27, attacked the woman and children inside an apartment on the 100 block of Park Avenue around 1 a.m.
Authorities say the woman and one of the children suffered life-threatening injuries. The other child is being treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Authorities say that Newark police arrested Hagler on the evening of July 4 for an unrelated incident. It was then discovered that he allegedly attacked the woman and children in East Orange.
Hagler was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
