With thousands of people in Texas living without power following Hurricane Beryl’s arrival, much needed assistance is coming from New Jersey.

The American Red Cross New Jersey region deployed a team of disaster workers in one of its emergency response vehicles to support Hurricane Beryl relief efforts in the Houston area. The vehicle was loaded this morning with much needed supplies outside the Red Cross office in Tinton Falls.

Lynn Paul and Chris Cummings, who prepared the truck, will join eight other Red Cross volunteers from New Jersey. The volunteers will head to the Houston area and then provide assistance wherever it’s needed most.

“They’ll be providing meals, water, snacks, relief supplies like cleanup kits to families as they’re trying to figure out what’s next and know they’re probably going to pack some love and hugs and that truck, too,” said Kim Goetz, of American Red Cross Central New Jersey.
