This community service event takes place in May and solicits the assistance of area volunteers who help senior citizens with household chores that may be difficult or impossible to handle on their own. It brings people together and shows the true meaning of a community. Tasks requested and accomplished include: washing windows, cleaning gutters, mowing lawns, moving heavy/awkward items, and the like.

According to the American Red Cross, in terms of donating blood, "The need is constant and the gratification is instant." The Mundelein Fire Department hosts several blood drives per year. Residents are encouraged to participate in the community blood drives as there is always a great need for blood.
Consider These Facts:
- Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
- Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S.
- Nearly 7,000 units of platelets and 10,000 units of plasma are needed daily in the U.S.
- Nearly 21 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S.
- The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 pints.
- The blood type most often requested by hospitals is type O.
- The blood used in an emergency is already on the shelves before the event occurs.
- It is estimated that sickle cell disease affects 90,000 to 100,000 people in the U.S. About 1,000 babies are born with the disease each year. Sickle cell patients can require frequent blood transfusions throughout their lives.
- More than 1.68 million people are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.
- A single-car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood.

The Mundelein Community Days festival has something for everyone-carnival, fireworks, parade, food, top-notch headliner music, games, contests, demonstrations, displays, and lots of kids' activities. Each year, thousands of Mundelein residents and visitors from around the Midwest attend the summer celebration. Mundelein's Concerts in the Park summer series takes place at Kracklauer Park, 100 North Seymour Street, on Sundays from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM during the summer months. All concerts are free so invite your friends and neighbors to the concert, bring some snacks and drinks, and have an enjoyable evening in the park. The Mundelein Community Days Commission, the Mundelein Park District, and the Village of Mundelein collectively organize the Concerts in the Park summer series. Inquiries? This event takes place annually during the summer months. The fishing derby is for children 13 and under. Come on out, kids, bring your pole, and compete for prizes. Bring a picnic lunch.

The Mundelein Farmers Market, organized and hosted by Mundelein Community Connection, takes place weekly throughout the summer months at its downtown location on Park Street and Seymour Avenue. The market is open on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to Noon in June through October and features a wide range of local vendor products including fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, desserts, and craft items. New vendors are always welcome!

The Mundelein Parks and Recreational District Fine Arts Festival is a two-day event held annually during the second weekend in September. The 2024 dates are September 7, 2024 and September 8, 2024. The festival takes place at Kracklauer Park, 100 North Seymour Avenue, and features top-notch artists, local musicians, and tasty food.

Mundelein's Winterfest and Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place in 2024 at Courtland Commons Park (corner of Seymour and Courtland) beginning at 3:00 PM . Festivities begin with music, singing, and other holiday-themed entertainment. Santa Claus will help with the official countdown for the lighting of the Village's Holiday Tree, and there will be an amazing fireworks display! Mundelein Park and Recreation District will be on hand with free hot chocolate and other goodies.

Mundelein's Memorial Day Parade, organized by the American Legion Post 867 and the Village of Mundelein will take place on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM. The parade route is Plaza Circle to Chicago Avenue to Hawley Street to North Emerald to Memorial Park. Contact: Village Hall at 847-949-3200.
As part of the exciting events surrounding Mundelein Community Days, the Mundelein Pageant is an opportunity for the young ladies of Mundelein to compete for the opportunity to represent the Village of Mundelein throughout the year. Title holders have the privilege of being the ambassadors for the future female leadership of Mundelein. Scholarships and prizes are awarded to winners. Additionally, each young lady will participate in events that will help to develop her public speaking, networking, and schedule management skills, during her year of service. Each title holder also earns the right to represent Mundelein at the Lake County Illinois State Pageant.
The Mundelein Pageant typically takes place at the end of June. Categories include Miss Mundelein (ages 16-21), Junior Miss Mundelein (ages 10-15), and Little Miss Mundelein (ages 6 to 9).

The Mundelein Grand Prix is part of the Chicago Grit (formerly known as Intelligentsia Cup) professional cycling circuit. Mundelein is a host community. The 2024 race date is July 22, 2024 from 9 :00 AM to 8:00 PM. Races begin at Hawley Street and Seymour Avenue. More details to come as we approach the race date. Check back often for updates!
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police and community partnerships as well as neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out provides a great opportunity to bring police and the community together under positive circumstances.
The Mundelein Police Department joins forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "National Night Out" event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Village of Mundelein, involves people from more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide.

Mundelein Community Connections Park-on-Park takes place at the corner of Park and Seymour Streets and continues on the second Wednesday of the month through September. The cruise night specializes in pre-1977 vehicles only. The event draws some of the finest classic vehicles in the area. This popular and well-organized event, coordinated and staffed by On The Road Classics and Mundelein Community Connection, has something for owners and spectators alike. Park-on-Park is a street festival and car show combined.

Bring the kids and their lists to Santa's Cottage, hosted by Mundelein Community Connection, for a special visit with Santa. Enjoy the holiday spirit with fellow Mundelein residents along with free refreshments while visiting. Santa will be at the cottage following Winterfest and the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony, with several additional dates on Saturday afternoons, shortly thereafter.
