'I was nervous what my family would think': Jason Mraz reveals he struggled with being bisexual for years... and the reason why he finally came out
American singer-songwriter Jason Mraz says he struggled to come out as bisexual for years.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Friday, the 41-year-old confessed didn't come out until 2018 after growing up in a conservative town in Virginia.
'I saw how [gay and lesbian people] get harassed and I heard the language around it and that scared me because I thought 'if I'm gay, what does that mean for me, my community, my family and career?'' the singer revealed.

'It was a struggle. I was nervous about what my family would think,' he said.
Jason, who married Christina Carano in 2015, explained that it was important for him to come out because holding onto secrets can lead to isolation and unhappiness.
'Coming out is important because it gives others permission to come out,' he added.
In July last year, Jason made headlines after admitting he'd had 'experiences with men' while he was dating his now-wife Christina Carano.

'I've had experiences with men, even while I was dating the woman who became my wife. It was like, 'Wow, does that mean I am gay?'' he told Billboard.
'And my wife laid it out for me. She calls it 'two spirit,' which is what the Native Americans call someone who can love both man and woman,' he added. 'I really like that.'
The I'm Yours hitmaker came out as bisexual last year when he penned a 'love letter' to the LGBT community, as part of a Billboard feature during Gay pride month.
