Elton John, 70, gets a taste of the life of leisure as he enjoys a day out in Rome with husband David Furnish and beloved sons Elijah and Zachary... after announcing upcoming retirement
In January, he announced his decision to retire from touring after almost 50 years.
And Sir Elton John enjoyed a taste of his soon-to-be life of leisure as he joined husband David Furnish and their two sons Elijah, five, and Zachary, seven, on a getaway to Rome on Friday.
The 70-year-old musical icon looked every inch the family man as he held on tight to Zachary's hand as they led the way down the famed Spanish Steps and through to Bolognese restaurant.

Elton donned his signature blazer and tailored trousers, underneath which he opted for a casual slogan T-shirt. The I'm Still Standing hitmaker teamed his suit with a pair of buckle-embellished black shoes.
Elton's casual ensemble was ramped up by his signature jewellery, this time choosing a large bejeweled cross chain and two sparking statement rings.
Never without his unique tinted spectacles, the Rocket Man singer looked in good spirits as he hurried around with the youngsters and accompanied by husband David.

The film-maker wrapped up in a chic khaki jacket over a blue and red patterned wool jumper.
David tied his look together with retro turn-up jeans and vintage leather trainers, while shielding his eyes from the bright Italian sunshine in a black shades.
While kicking a salt-and-pepper smatter of stubble, David ensured he held onto his two sons as they enjoyed a day in the sunshine in their adorable matching Letterman jackets.
Elton and David appeared in good spirits as they spent the day searching the tourist sites together - which may become a more regular activity once Elton has completed his three-year farewell retirement tour.

In January, Elton announced his epic Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour, and will spend three years saying goodbye to fans as he plays more than 300 shows across five continents.
Announcing the decision, Sir Elton said his 'priorities have changed', adding that his two sons have changed his and David's lives.
'In 2015 we sat down with a school schedule and I thought I don't want to miss too much of this... My life has changed, my priorities have changed and my priority now is my family,' he said.

He added it was a chance 'to say thank you to all my fans around he world and then to say goodbye. It doesn't mean I'm not going to be creative any more.
'I have had a good run. I don't want to go out with a whimper, I want to go out with a bang'.
To date, Elton has delivered more than 4,000 performances in more than 80 countries since launching his first tour in 1970.
