Katie Price's ex Kieran Hayler 'lands new role alongside Doctor Who's Matt Smith' in upcoming black comedy about a sex-addict

Katie Price's ex Kieran Hayler has reportedly 'landed a new role alongside Doctor Who's Matt Smith' in an upcoming black comedy.

The former stripper, 37, who was married to the glamour model, 46, from 2013 to 2018, was spotted by onlookers whilst filming for the project.

Filming for the Sky drama, The Death Of Bunny Munro, has been taking place around London and Brighton, with Matt seen on set at Saltdean Lido last Tuesday.

Based on a book of the same name by Nick Cave it centres around the story of a sex addict who embarks on a road trip after the death of his wife.

Whilst his role in the production is currently under wraps, Katie and Kieran split in 2018 amid reports he was a sex addict and had cheated on her with two of her friends.

A source told The Sun: 'It’s not clear just what part Kieran has in the show, as the project has been kept under wraps for months.

'Though bystanders were amazed to see him as part of the production during filming last week, with many still recognising him as being Katie’s former husband.

'It’s a particular surprise given that it’s a rather high-quality drama — though perhaps less surprising is that it centres around a character with a sex addiction.'

MailOnline have contacted Kieran's representative for comment.

A source close to production later told MailOnline: 'Kieran doesn’t have a role in the show. He came via an extras agency and was in the background of one scene as an extra. No one on production knew who he was.'

Katie and Kieran, who share children, Bunny nine, and Jett, 10, encountered problems just one year into their marriage when Katie discovered her then husband and pal Jane Poutney had become intimate during a group holiday to Cape Verde.

The model and Jane had known each other for 20 years when the 10-month affair came to light, and the latter was even maid of honour at Katie's weddings to both Alex Reid and Kieran.

After Katie rumbled the pair's affair, which started when she was heavily pregnant with Jett and in hospital, she made Kieran undergo a lie detector test and later she to Twitter to announce she was divorcing him.

Days before she had revealed she was six-months pregnant with daughter Bunny.

She later made the shocking revelation that Kieran had bedded another close friend, former glamour model Chrissy Thomas, who Katie had known since she was 18.

After Kieran admitted to sex addiction, Katie reconciled with him, but in 2017 revealed he had been having an affair with their children's nanny - and the couple went their separate ways.

In 2020, Kieran refuted the notion that he had a sex addiction, and claimed he and ex-wife Katie 'made up' the whole thing.

Speaking during a livestream interview with Stevie Richie, the stripper, said: 'I definitely don't have a sex addiction. It was all made up. I don't have a sex addiction. It's not true... I don't.'

Slamming their relationship, he went on: 'She said she loved Pete [Andre] when we were married... but to be honest, whatever.

'That goes to show how much our relationship meant to us. I am happier now I'm in a real relationship.'

The Death Of Bunny Munro follows a misogynistic middle-aged salesman as he takes his son on a road trip around after his wife's suicide - at the same time as a serial-killer is inhabiting the area.

As Bunny bounces from one sales pitch to the next, trying to seduce any woman he meets, Bunny Junior tries to talk to the ghost of his mother and distract himself from the realisation his father's life is crumbling around him.

Bunny soon starts to unravel, but he realises he must do something to rescue his son from his own outdated notions of what it is to be a man.

The Sky Atlantic series will have six episodes and it is based on a book of the same name written by Nick Cave.

Nick is best known for being the lead singer of rock band Nick Cave And The Black Seeds and the novel was his second.

He serves as the series' executive producer along with Matt Smith and several more.

Matt was seen on the series' set for the very first time in May when he filmed scenes in London.

He was seen looking out-or-sorts as he tumbled head-first through a wooden fence before collapsing across the pavement.

With a small suitcase in hand, Munro - wearing a salmon pink shirt and pinstripe trousers - appeared to be doing a frantic runner  from person or persons unknown.

Matt has said of the series: 'To work alongside Nick Cave on The Death of Bunny Munro feels like a great honour. It's a brilliant exploration of love, grief, and chaos.

'At its heart a deep, difficult, and tender story about a father and son, coping with loss and change.

'Clerkenwell Films and Sky feels like the perfect home to make such a bold story and Pete has delivered such wonderful scripts, both funny and heart breaking in equal measure.

'I can't wait to collaborate with Isabella and begin the journey with everyone at Clerkenwell.'

Nick added: 'Finally, someone with the courage to take on this unholy tale.

'I am thrilled that Sky and Clerkenwell Films are bringing Bunny to life, in all his flawed glory, and I can think of nobody better than Matt Smith to play him.'

The series was announced in November 2023 and is directed by Pete Jackson and produced by Clerkenwell Films.
