British families heading to Spain , Portugal and Morocco for their summer holidays this week have been warned to brace for a heatwave with highs of up to 46C (115F). The Met Office said the peak would be this Wednesday when Madrid will reach 39C (102F) and Seville 43C (109F), while Lisbon will get up to 37C (99F). But the hottest weather in the region will be in Marrakech which will hit 46C on the same day - although temperatures are set to ease by the end of this week. Met Office senior operational meteorologist Marco Petagna urged visitors to 'take care' if travelling to the south-west Europe region over the coming days. He added that temperatures in the high-20Cs and locally mid-30Cs were typical for the time of year - meaning that those this week are 10C or more above average.

Thomas Crooks, 20, climbed to the roof of a building roughly 140 yards away from the stage of a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 before opening fire, shooting the former president and others, leaving one dead. The tragedy has thrust Cheatle into the hot seat over how such an oversight, leading to the near-death of a former president and current presidential candidate, could happen under her watch. On Monday morning, Cheatle testified before the House Oversight Committee that her agency is still actively investigating the assassination attempt on Trump that occurred nine days ago, and thus she is unable to answer many questions. This earned her the scorn of Republicans and Democrats who peppered her with requests that she resign and reveal more about the agency's historic failure. But she stonewalled them, providing barely any additional details into the shooting while receiving a painful tongue lashing from the lawmakers.

A former BBC presenter who swapped her TV career to become a firefighter has died aged 46 after a year-and-a-half long battle with cancer . Beccy Barr, from Lancaster, was diagnosed with incurable cancer last year. The mother-of-one joined BBC North West Tonight as a presenter and reporter back in 2013 having previously spent five years in financial news at CNBC in London . But after 20 years in journalism, she decided to follow in her father's footsteps and joined Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service in 2019. Beccy's family made the announcement on 'X' this afternoon. Their statement read: 'I’m sharing the very sad news that Beccy passed away peacefully this morning. 'She spent her last few days at St John's Hospice who provided the most dignified & compassionate care to Beccy & her whole family. 'Donations to the hospice can be made in Beccy’s memory.'

Kieran, 37, was spotted filming in Brighton at the same time as Matt, 42, for the six-part Sky Atlantic drama earlier this month - however the pair were not seen together. In a series of on-set snaps, Kieran could be seen sporting a white polo shirt as he recorded scenes with a blonde actress. Anand Runwal, 40, saw the stroller fall off the platform and leapt down to try to rescue his two-year-old daughters before a train struck and killed him and one of the twins. Horrifying CCTV footage shows the moments before the pram toppled onto the tracks at Carlton train station in Sydney at about 12.25pm on Sunday, and into the path of the oncoming train. An entire village once converted into a German prisoner of war camp is on the market - having been abandoned for more than two years. The hideaway forestry village of Ceinws in the Welsh hills was once a thriving community of family homes with a church, a children's playground and a sports field. But it has been empty for more than two years after the last resident died and no-one moved back into the 20 corrugated bungalows. The Ceinws Forestry Camp was built in the 1930s - initially for unemployed men to live in to lay new roads through the Snowdonia mountains.

Two people were reportedly injured when the large wave broke the calm waters and crashed onto the shore, with one woman said to have sustained broken ribs. A furious beachgoer filmed the moment the boat's wake reached the beach, with swimmers seen running out of the sea and heard screaming in the dramatic footage. The water then covers the whole beach, with shocked tourists seen scrambling to pick up their belongings before they are washed away by the powerful swell. The boat responsible went on to dock at the port of Rafina in mainland Greece , where the captain was arrested, local media reports.

Danielle Emery, 39, from Reading, was suffering with a sore throat but assumed it was a simple cold - that is until she was handed a shock diagnosis of laryngeal cancer. Utterly terrified about the future, the carer was given hope when emergency surgery was planned to tackle the disease. However Danielle was left stunned when doctors also informed her she was 11 weeks pregnant. Given just a few minutes to make the agonising choice to spare her life or that of her baby's, she chose her future child; risking a '99 per cent' chance of miscarriage in the process. CCTV has emerged of a tourist being attacked from behind and stabbed by a woman near a popular bar in Bali after a 'one-night stand' took a disastrous turn for the worse. The incident unfolded near the Sandbar restaurant and pub on the holiday island. Footage of the confronting incident, which appeared to have happened at night, was was captured by cameras from a nearby building. 

Building work is continuing at Jeremy Clarkson's Cotswolds pub as he adds the final touches after opening it 'unfinished' for England's Euros final. Following the success of his farming enterprise Diddly Squat, the former Top Gear star bought the village pub, The Windmill in Asthall, for £1 million. The 64-year-old planned to convert it into an upmarket destination - charting his attempts to become a pub landlord in a new TV series.He also shared a first glimpse inside his new pub after opening the 'unfinished' venue for the Euros final amid renovation works, admitting that they hadn't planned to throw open their doors for another 'four or five weeks'.

Caroline Butler, from Norfolk may 48, but she still gets asked for ID when buying age-restricted goods, and online followers are convinced she's just 20 years old. The social media manager puts her ageless appearance down to a handful of factors - including wearing budget supermarket sun cream every day, avoiding meat and booze, and staying single. A 17-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a bus as he attempted to escape after snatching a 71-year-old man's cell phone. Street surveillance cameras captured the moment the teenager walked up to the elderly man while he was talking on the phone on a street corner in the southerastrrn Brazilian cirt of São Paulo on last Friday. The victim appeared as he was about to cross to the opposite aidewalk when the teen suddenly grabbed his cell phone and took off running.

Lucas Jameson, 16, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, made a grand entrance to his year 11 prom dressed in a £600 suit and encased in a black corpse bag, along with two of his friends. The idea came about after a family friend suggested it to Lucas, and soon enough his stepdad Dean Jameson leapt into action to make the stunt a reality. He roped his friends into the shenanigans by telling them they couldn't attend with him unless they joined in too.
