A 19-year-old American woman was reportedly gang-raped in a car park after being lured from a bar in Italy by three men who all filmed the attack.

Roberto Mirabella, 20, Salvatore Castrogiovanni, 19, and Agatino Spampinato, 19, allegedly approached the victim when she was alone at a bar in Via Teatro Massimo, Catania, Sicily, on March 15.

They offered her drinks before convincing the victim to go with them to their car, which they forced her to get in, police said on Tuesday.

All three of the men allegedly sexually abused and raped the woman while filming the sickening attack.

The victim tried to secretly call the emergency services but the group stopped her, the Italian Insider reported.

Police identified and arrested the three suspects after one of the men sent the victim a video via social media and invited her out again the following evening.

The American woman - who was an au pair in the city for three months - also showed officers footage of the suspects that she filmed while in the club.

Mirabella, Castrogiovanni, and Spampinato, were arrested by police on March 21 and taken to the Catania Piazza Lanza prison.
