Kayak

Our Specialty Camps provide exciting opportunities for learning, skill building and fun! With something for everyone, Specialty Camps are a great addition to any child’s summer. 

Specialty Camps 2024:

Wild Child Series:
Wild Child 1- Survival Skills. Shelter, water, fire food and most of all, a survival attitude. 
July 16 – 18 for registrants going into Grades 2 to 3 
July 9 – 11 for registrants going into Grades 4 to 6
Resident Fee: $160 Non-Resident Fee: $225

Wild Child 2 - The Art and Science of Nature. Observe, track, identify, move, create, and play. We are part of Nature!
August 6 to 8 for registrants going into Grades 2 to 3 
July 30 – August 1 for registrants going into Grades 4 to 6

Music Performance 
July 2 – 5
Open to registrants going into Grades 4 - 8
Would you like to be in a live show? Perform a musical act for an audience? It’s time to take the stage! Create your own Carpool Karaoke, compete in challenges like a Music Escape Room or become your own version of The Masked Singer? Join Mrs. G for 4 “jam” packed days of musical fun that ends with a Banff’s Got Talent show! Welcome to the limelight!

Go Between 
July 15-19
Open to registrants going into Grade 6
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to Youth Camp? Now is your chance to come see for yourself! If you are going into Grade 6, you’re invited for a fun-filled week of activities, field trips, and an incredible camping trip to Yoho National Park!

Music & Movement
July 29 – August 1
Open to registrants going into Kindergarten to Grade 2
This camp will help you learn music fundamentals through instruments, song, dance, and play. Four days of dynamic programming suited for children going into Kindergarten and Grades 1 & 2. Come move and groove with a certified CRPS music teacher and the songs from your favourite movies!

Namaste & Play
August 12-16
Open to registrants going into Grade 1-5
Yoga-na love it! Roll out your mat, and come prepared to explore the many ways to practice yoga. Increase your child’s mental and physical literacy with a certified yoga instructor. This week-long camp will explore mindful movement, breathwork, and basic anatomy, while introducing them to the many benefits of yoga. A perfect blend of playful yoga sessions and creative activities, fostering balance, flexibility, and inner harmony.

Wave Runners Kayak Camp
August 13 to 16
Open to registrants going into Grade 6-7
Explore our local waters from a new point of view! With the support of professional coaches from the Bow Valley Kayak Club, participants will learn about kayaking equipment; access, navigation and maneuvering of waterways, safe kayak exits and working towards running our first ever rapids! 
Pre-requisite: Although strong swimming is not necessary, participants must feel confident in deep water. In still water, we will practice how to be upside-down in a kayak, as it is an essential skill in preparing for river paddling. For insurance purposes all registrants must obtain a membership with the Bow Valley Kayak Club. Camp fees have been reduced to accommodate the membership fee.  
Resident Fee: $240 Non-Resident Fee: $300

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (includes lunch hour supervision)

Registration

Registration for the 2024 Summer Fun program will open:

  • Banff residents: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17
  • Non-residents: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 

Before your registration day: 
We want to make registration faster for you and your family. To speed up the registration process, please send in your completed forms any time. This way they will be reviewed, corrected, and on file long beforehand. 

You may hand these in via email to community.services@banff.ca or in person at Town Hall. If you prefer to fill a paper copy, they are available at Town Hall during opening hours. 

Registration Information:

  • Your pre-completed forms will not give you priority in line on your registration day. 
  • Registration requests will be accepted on a first come, first served basis starting at 8:30am. Emails received before 8:30am will not be considered.
  • Registration requests will be accepted by email only - not in person or via phone
  • Registration requests are not a confirmed registration. Registrations will be confirmed by Client Services once processed and your receipt is received.

On your registration day:
When registration is open to you, please send a registration request to community.services@banff.ca. Emails received before 8:30am will not be considered.

Please include in your request:

  • Your name & child(ren)’s name(s)
  • One or two phone numbers we can reach you during the daytime on weekdays
  • Your completed forms (if you haven’t already sent them in)
  • Your list of requested dates 

Client services will respond to your request on a first-come-first-served basis. They will leave a message if they are unable to connect with you, but will proceed with responding to other registration requests.

Please note: We are unable complete registration until all forms are filled correctly. 

Children’s legal guardians are asked to complete registration forms each season to ensure all participant information on file is up-to-date.
