Swimming Lessons

Group Swim Lessons 

Swimmer Level 1 is geared towards beginner swimmers who will learn to become comfortable jumping into water with and without a lifejacket. They'll learn to open their eyes, exhale and hold their breath underwater. They'll work on floats, glides and kicking through the water on their front and back. Ages 5-12.

Summer Private Swimming Lessons

Private swim lessons help swimmers focus on specific skills in order to progress faster. Lessons are open to all ages and abilities.

Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays: July: 4 – 4:30 p.m. & August: 3:45 – 4:15 p.m.
Saturdays: July & August: 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Resident: $25/lesson
Non-Resident: $30/lesson

Public Swimming

These sessions are monitored by a lifeguard.

Sundays: 1 – 4 p.m.
Mondays: 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Wednesdays: 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Fridays: 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Saturdays: 1 – 4 p.m.

Cost

Cost: $2+ GST for Banff residents aged 5 and older
Free for Banff residents aged 4 and under
Non-residents are welcomed to attend by paying the Banff Centre drop-in fees

 Lifeguarded public swimming are being subsidized and offered by the Town of Banff in partnership with the Banff Centre. 

Note: Proof of Banff Residency must be provided in the form of a Banff Activity Pass prior to attending a public swimming session. 

Anyone with a Banff Activity Pass without a Photo on the ID Card must present a government-issued ID with a photo, along with the Banff Activity Pass card in order to access the Sally Borden Public Swimming Programs.  To get a new Banff Activity Pass with a photo please visit Town Hall or The Fenlands during regular business hours and a new card will be issued. 

Admission Requirements for Public Swimming:

  1. Participants that wish to stay beyond the public swimming times must pay the Banff Centre drop-in fee or hold an applicable Banff Centre membership. More information.
  2. Minors under the age of 13 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 16 or older at all times while at the facility.  
  3. A parent or guardian must complete a waiver in-person for minors aged 17 and under prior to public swimming admission.
Youth Aquatics Program

Banff’s Youth Aquatic Leadership Program

This program provides those between the ages of 16 and 25 funding to obtain the necessary certifications to become a lifeguard, from first aid and Bronze Star to National Lifeguard. Those certified will then have a chance to interview with the Town of Banff and if hired, receive a $500 honorarium.
