THINK South Africa Makes Strides in Health Access in Mangaung THINK South Africa has recently executed several targeted health interventions in the Mangaung district of the Free State: On 13 June 2024, THINK South Africa, in collaboration with the North Star Alliance Clinic Wellness Centre and the Department of Health, delivered health services to female sex workers in Mangaung. The initiative featured mobile TB screening and testing as well as the distribution of pads and condoms. This approach ensured critical health services reached a vulnerable group, reinforcing primary healthcare efforts in the area. THINK South Africa's efforts in Mangaung highlight its commitment to addressing healthcare disparities through comprehensive, community-focused interventions. On 14 June 2024, THINK South Africa joined the Youth Month Celebration at Dr Molemele Stadium, hosted by the Free State CET College's Student Representative Council (SRC). Partnering with the Department of Health, the event provided TB and HIV testing and STI prevention services. Engaging with the youth during this celebration raised health awareness and promoted preventive health behaviours, contributing to long-term community health improvements. On 20 June 2024, a TB Awareness Campaign at Phola Park Informal Settlements included TB screening and testing through an AI-driven mobile clinic, alongside dental care, family planning, immunisations, and STI services provided by other service providers. This collaborative effort with local organisations and the Department of Health has greatly improved healthcare access for underserved residents. Based in South Africa, THINK South Africa utilises the latest #technology and industry #innovations to improve the #treatment of infectious diseases. Trevor Mvundura, Executive Director and Country CEO, tells us more about the non-governmental organisation’s commitment to advancing the #health and well-being of vulnerable communities. According to the World Health Organisation (#WHO), #tuberculosis (TB) remains the leading cause of death amongst people living with #HIV across the world, with the two illnesses being intrinsically linked and in need of vital support. It is from this critical need that THINK was established by Dr Kristina Wallengren as a non-profit company in 2013, with the founding purpose of making a difference to individuals affected by TB and HIV. Today, the organisation has broadened its scope to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities locally and globally. With its current head office in Hillcrest, Durban, South Africa (SA), THINK is rapidly expanding throughout the country and beyond, embarking on a strategy to extend its regional footprint across Eswatini, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, to ensure that its industry experience and knowledge is shared throughout the continent.  Meanwhile, a partnership office was established in Denmark three years ago, ensuring that the organisation’s global impact is #sustainable and long-lasting, and assisting with connection between the Global North and Global South.
