Come explore our "blossom to bar and beyond adventure" at Kupa'a Organic Farm in Kula! This chocolate adventure will have you scamper through a small young orchard with baby cacao (ca - cow) to mature trees that will be blooming to fruiting with mother nature's approval. You'll learn about all the other exquisite plants and trees throughout the gardens and orchards. As all agricultural farms, we also haven't figured out "nature on demand" yet! Group size is limited to 12, but we can accommodate up to 14 guests upon request. Smaller groups keep the experience more intimate since there is a hands-on chocolate making demonstration as part of the adventure. Then we explore the many flavors of chocolates from around the world coming from different latitudes with different attitudes (thank you Jimmy Buffet!). The tasting will include at least 2 chocolates from Hawaii, and after your tour, you will fully understand how rare chocolates from Hawaii are, and especially from Maui...more chocolate from Maui is waiting on the horizon!

We were not sure what to expect when we first arrived, and questioned even more as we walked the tour.
But when we got to the top of the hill and the preparation area, what went before just faded away. Understanding the process of making coffee and chocolate was made so easy by Katelyn our guide. We ground the cocoa beans ourselves, a few times, blowing off the husks as we went. And to see the chocolate butter appear as you keep grinding it is quite something.
We were looking for something different to do and this was certainly different, and very enjoyable once we got into it.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Heather A.Cookeville, TN1042516Mar 13, 2024
Maui Kuia chocolate is outstanding. We enjoyed the OMG and blood orange best. I highly recommend ordering a flight of chocolate to sample the delicious flavors.

We had a last minute tour arranged that this amazing group of folks added in just for us:))
The property there is very beautiful and the tour itself was awesome!!! Our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable and even had a great sense of humor when we arrived over an hour early- she took it all in stride!
The chocolate and coffee tasting were both superb-
Would highly recommend this tour to any coffee and or chocolate enthusiastsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bernadette B.Brentwood, CA1521214May 4, 2023Updated review
Updating to respond:
The offensive + disrespectful thing here is the grotesque GASLIGHTING you are doing by saying our experience never happened. The ONLY appropriate response here is "I'm sorry, and we will do better". The audacity you have justifying mean comments about someones disabilities or weight by insinuating they were "lighthearted" speaks volumes about this company.
Responding to your need to think you're part of the Google police "Your content should reflect your genuine experience of a product, and should not be posted just to manipulate a product's ratings." I COULD NOT HAVE WRITTEN TRUER WORDS.
"Don't post fake content" I WISH IT WAS FAKE AND YOU DIDN'T TREAT MY FAMILY THAT WAY
"don't post the same content multiple times, and don't post content for the same product from multiple accounts." DID YOU FORGET WE HAD A GROUP OF 12. ALL 12 ARE ALLOWED TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES. Also, what was that phrase you used in your email? It's a free country? We're welcome to do as we choose? We choose to hopefully stop other people from experiencing this horrendous excuse of a tour.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 31, 2023Previous reviewTake this "tour" only if you like a side of fat shaming with your coffee...
It has taken me a while to digest what happened during this deceptive and misleading sham of a tour. I almost feel gaslit by the other reviews left. Am I crazy? Did we go to the same place?
Ann, our "guide", or "fun facilitator" as she referred to herself, should have been my first clue this was about to be disastrous. Her opening statements were along the lines of "if you're not having fun, that's on you". She failed to mention at that point, it was also probably on us to shuttle our disabled, cane dependent family to a hilltop garage, to bring our own chocolate, our own coffee, and bring our own bathroom for an over 3 hour hijacking of our time.
I had just gotten married in Maui, and my family had decided to do a tour together. Our point of contact and group leader, explained to Ann while booking that we had several people in our party with severe mobility issues. To which we were told that was fine, and there was golf carts to help.
When we arrived (a bit ahead of schedule) we were expecting maybe a gift shop to browse with coffee and chocolate for purchase, t shirt dyed brown out of coffee grounds, I don't know, something! Instead we were berated for not going to the bathroom at a state park beforehand and locked gates.
This is where the real "fun" began. She explained there was a steep hill that we had to go up in order to get to where our tour started. My disabled new family members were struggling to tackle this feat. I was so upset that an already uncomfortable situation for them, was being made more uncomfortable by the second as Ann proceeded to make several comments in regard to their weight. I will only speak on the one I heard directly. She pointed to a hill in the distance, and said to my mother in-law, "over there is where they do parasailing" my mother in law responded "oh, I'm totally good off that." To which Ann had the audacity to say "well that's good, because there's weight limits"...
What!? What exactly are you trying to infer here, lady!? No one said anything about even wanting to do parasailing!
Several family members looked like they were on the verge of tears hiking up this steep hill. When 3/4 of the way up, we asked, "why couldn't we have driven up here?", Ann said "oh, well I guess you could have"
Guess we could have!?
Once we miraculously, without medical attention, made it to the top, we we're greeted by a garage I can only imagine is normally used for drug trafficking. Dirty. Small. Hot. Blankets on the windows and spray paint on the wall. If you're picturing something in a movie about drugs in Columbia-- ding! Ding! Ding!
The only thing we saw was a slideshow, pictures of alleged coffee plants on this alleged farm, although we couldn't see them in person, and there were no beans roasted on sight. Ann french pressed some beans made from, somewhere else? As far as chocolate goes, we were given several tiny pieces, about the size of a fingernail, all from various other manufacturers/locations. What do you even do here!? My brother in law needed to use the restroom? He was told to use a stick pile out back. No joking.
So what exactly did we tour? At this point, I could have gone to a display shed at Home Depot, bought a couple bars of chocolate from a store, made a pot of coffee, and my guests would have walked away with more than what we did here. And there at least would've been a public restroom.
We have reached out to them and attempted to rectify this situation, but they are refusing any type of resolution.
So upset and disappointed over this entire experience. The lowest point of my wedding trip. Do not go here! - Carlee D.CA, CA011Apr 2, 2023
To say this tour was a scam is a complete understatement. My family and I decided to stop by the Maui Coffee and chocolate tour while visiting the island. We were met with complete disrespect, disorganization, and frankly a horrible tour guide.
When we arrived, Anne, our "tour guide" drove past us several times and waved at us from behind locked gates. We waited there over an hour before Anne let our group in. My grandmother called the number on the gates four times, but no one ever answered. As soon as we were let in, Anne asked "why didn't you call to see if you could come in sooner?!" My grandmother told her "we did... 4 times.."
We were then brought over a small bench for our party of 12. Only 4 were able to be seated on it. Prior to booking this tour we called and let them know we had several disabled seniors with mobility issues. We we're told, accommodations could be made for our group.
After about 20 agonizing minutes of Anne talking about the foliage around the bench, we asked her if we could move on because most of the people in our party were very uncomfortable. We were then lead up a small to medium size hill. She sat and watched as several family members made the hike up. As soon as we reached the top, she said "oops you guys are going the wrong way" I was completely dumbfounded by the statement as it seemed like she waited until the members of the family with disabilities made it to the top of the hill before she mentioned anything.
After everyone had gotten down, we were met with an even bigger Hill. In fact, a massive hill. My grandparents were severely struggling making it up. What bothered me most, was seeing my grandmother on the verge of tears since she was in so much pain. It was only after somebody asked Anne (who was riding in a two seater golf cart) if we could offer to let the family with disabilities switch off one by one riding with her. 3/4 of the way through this hill and started making the most inappropriate fat jokes towards my family. One of which was to my grandfather "I don't think we're gonna make it up this hill with your...... Weight." She then gave him a massive side eye.
After barely trekking up this mountain, we were met with a shed and we were all told to sit down for the presentation.
She proceeded to point to a tiny TV on a table, we saw a slideshow of pictures of the owner and his daughter. We were then taken to the back of the shed to be shown a bucket of fermented coffee beans to which Anne placed her hand into scooped out a handful of beans and shoved it right into my face. I immediately backed away. She asked "are you sure you don't want to smell it? Are you sure?" At this point, my uncle needed to use the restroom to which she pointed to a wood pile in the same area. She announced to our group "use that wood pile if you need to use the restroom". We all were pretty shocked and we all looked at each other like is this lady joking? Nope, not joking.
The chocolate tasting was all from chocolate not from this farm. All from other places, other states even. And the teeniest, tiniest portions.
Please don't waste your time and money. There's much better places to spend so much money for a far better experience!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Robin E.CA, CA05Jan 7, 2024
Do not sign up for this "tour". They don't grow coffee anymore. And the chocolate tour consisted of a little meeting in a garage.
They should focus more on farming, than trying to convince people that this is a real coffee chocolate operation. I wouldn't do this again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Be smart. Save your money.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kim H.Kansas City, MO03Mar 16, 2024
The tour was great; our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Was overpriced for what the tour included.

We had such a wonderful day on this tour with our guide, Anne! We were a group of four that showed up not knowing what to expect and the day was full of a lot of fun, laughter, and education!
We came in not knowing much about the history of chocolate, but left feeling very well-versed. From learning about the different plants on the farm and the history all the way to learning about chocolates around Maui and the world - even to making our own Mexican hot chocolate drink from cacao nibs - we had a blast! I would highly recommend this tour for a unique experience and learning a bit more about chocolate.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Susan M.St-Lazare-de-Vaudreuil, Canada15193Jul 8, 2023
Had a lovely afternoon on this farm learning about their sustainable farming practices, the various trees and plants in the area, growing vanilla, and of course growing cacao and coffee. It was very informative and I learnt a lot. It is a working farm and some things may not be "available" or "ready" to be seen but Ann was ready with videos to fill in the gaps. The bicoastal view of Kahului Harbour and Maalaea Harbour from the top of the hill was AMAZING!

My husband and I travel almost annually to Maui and we are always looking for something new to enjoy as an outing. Our time with Ann on this tour did not disappoint. She was so incredibly informative about everything that the farm was doing from a cultivating and sustanable standpoint, which was very interesting, but most of all, she was incredible personable and a joy to spend several hours with! Getting to do some hands-on preparation that lead to the super yummy tastings was just a bonus! We would highly recommend both this tour, and Ann, if you are looking for something "off the beaten" path. Make a whole day of it and then head up (with some picnic provisions) to Haleakala for sunset and absolutely stay for the star gazing!
